In an important step toward the energy transition, Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security has issued a favorable environmental impact assessment for the construction of the Acquapendente photovoltaic plant. This project, driven by Ica For S.r.l., an Ingenium Group company, will have an installed capacity of 37.15 MW and will be built in the municipalities of Acquapendente (Viterbo) and Castel Giorgio (Terni).
The decision aligns with the recent Decree 341, granting the go-ahead for the plant’s construction, contingent upon strict compliance with various environmental and landscape conditions. These measures were set by the NRRP-INECP Commission, responsible for overseeing projects aligned with the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (INECP), along with the Ministry of Culture, which safeguards natural and cultural heritage in strategic areas.
To meet the established conditions, Ingenium will need to implement solutions that mitigate the installation’s environmental impact while ensuring the conservation of the area’s landscape and cultural elements. This development approach represents a balance between the country’s energy needs and the preservation of its rich natural heritage—a priority increasingly present in energy project planning in Italy.
The Acquapendente plant will contribute to the Group’s goal of strengthening the country’s energy independence and advancing energy decarbonization.
